What A 6126 does, verified January 8, 2026

The proposed legislation aims to protect properties that use private well water or septic systems from certain taxes and charges in areas where municipal or joint water and sewer districts exist or have been established. The law prohibits the imposition of levies, charges, taxes, or assessments on these properties, ensuring they are not unfairly disadvantaged compared to properties that use municipal or joint water and sewer services. This change is intended to promote fairness and equity in the assessment of properties in areas with different water and sewer infrastructure.
