A 6395: Enacts stricter requirements for sheltering of dogs outside including protection from wind and loss of body heat.
The proposed law aims to improve the living conditions of dogs left outdoors in inclement weather. A new standard for outdoor dog housing facilities is established, requiring them to have a waterproof roof, adequate insulation, and sufficient structure to protect dogs from the elements. The facilities must also allow for adequate freedom of movement and effective removal of waste material. Additionally, during the months of November through March, the facilities must provide a windbreak at the entrance to protect dogs from harsh weather conditions. The law also requires regular cleaning of the housing facilities and surrounding areas to maintain a healthy and sanitary environment.
