A 644: Provides a reduction in insurance premium charges for insured volunteer firefighters and emergency personnel for a 3 year period after successfully completing the emergency vehicle operator's course as part of their training.
The bill aims to provide a reduction in insurance premium charges for insured volunteer firefighters or emergency personnel. It allows for an actuarially appropriate reduction in premium charges for a three-year period after successfully completing the emergency vehicle operator's course as part of their training. However, there will be no reduction in premiums for self-instruction defensive driving courses or courses that do not provide actual classroom instruction for a minimum number of hours determined by the department of motor vehicles. The bill takes effect immediately, but the amendments will expire and revert to their previous state after a specified period.
