A 6702: Relates to representation in certain real property actions.
What A 6702 does, verified January 9, 2026
The proposed law aims to provide representation for certain individuals in real property actions who are financially unable to obtain counsel. A homeowner in a real property action can request assigned counsel from the court, which will be implemented by the county. The law requires each county and city to establish a plan for providing counsel to individuals who are entitled to representation, such as those charged with a crime or entitled to counsel under specific laws. The plan must include investigative, expert, and other services necessary for an adequate defense. The law will take effect on January 1st, following its enactment.
