The bill aims to improve consumer protection in automatic renewal and continuous service offers. A business must provide a toll-free telephone number, electronic mail address, and a link on its website for consumers to cancel services. Consumers who accept these offers can terminate them online, without needing additional information. If the business requires the consumer to return property or equipment, the cancellation may be made conditional on its return. If the cancellation is made online, the cancellation takes effect immediately, and the business must retrieve the property or equipment within thirty days. Once the property or equipment is returned, the business must issue a receipt to the consumer.
