What A 6858 does, verified January 10, 2026

The proposed law aims to prohibit the use of radar detectors and laser detectors commonly known as a "phazer ii device" in motor vehicles operating on public highways in the state. The presence of a phazer ii device connected to a power source and in an operable condition in a vehicle is considered presumptive evidence of its use by the vehicle's operator. However, this presumption can be rebutted by credible and reliable evidence showing that the device was not in use. The law would take effect immediately upon its enactment.
