What A 6905 does, verified January 10, 2026

The bill aims to provide college credits to students who excel on Regents examinations. To receive credits, a student must meet specific average score requirements across the required number of exams. The requirements are as follows: - An average score of 80 across 10 Regents exams to receive 3 credits towards general coursework at a university. - An average score of 85 across 4 Regents exams to receive 3 credits towards general coursework at a university. - An average score of 90 across 4 Regents exams to receive 6 credits towards general coursework at a university. Additionally, the bill prohibits students from availing themselves of multiple provisions and ensures that each university determines which general education coursework the credits may be applied to on an individual basis. The bill does not make any Regents exams mandatory starting in the 2027-2028 school year.
