New York · Assembly · 2025–2026 Legislative Session · last verified January 8, 2026

What A 7132 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to expand the definition of a "farm operation" to include urban farming. A farm operation now encompasses a broader range of activities, including commercial horse boarding, timber operations, and the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and ornamental plants. This expansion recognizes the growing trend of urban farming and allows for the inclusion of non-traditional agricultural activities in the state's agricultural laws. The bill takes effect immediately, providing a new framework for urban farming and farm operations in New York.
