A 7361: Relates to an ambulance fee schedule for ambulance service to licensed emergency departments.
The bill aims to establish a fee schedule for ambulance services in New York state. Department of Health licensed emergency departments that receive patients via ambulance service must pay a fee to the ambulance service provider. The fee schedule is based on the length of time the ambulance service is waiting to admit a patient and render unable to respond to other emergency calls. A fee of $1,000 will be imposed after one hour, increasing by $500 per hour for each subsequent hour. The Department of Health will review and adjust the fee schedule every four years based on the consumer price index. Ambulance services must bill the emergency department, and payments must be made within 60 days. Late payments will incur a 3% interest fee per month. The fee schedule applies to emergency departments that receive patients via ambulance service.
