A 7733: Relates to transfers of cable systems.

New York · Assembly · 2025–2026 Legislative Session · last verified January 10, 2026

What A 7733 does, verified January 10, 2026

The bill aims to amend the Public Service Law to regulate the transfer of cable systems in New York. The commission will approve a franchise renewal or amendment application unless the applicant or the proposed transferee fails to conform to established standards. The commission will not approve a transfer of a franchise or control unless the applicant demonstrates that the proposed transferee and the system conform to the standards and the transfer is in the public interest. The bill takes effect immediately and applies to any pending applications. A failure to conform to the standards does not automatically preclude approval if the commission finds that approval would serve the public interest.
