A 7771: Requires fire-resistant material applicators to undergo training and certification; imposes fines for violations.
The state is introducing a new law to improve fire safety by requiring training for individuals who apply fire-resistant materials. Fire-resistant materials are substances sprayed onto surfaces to provide fire protection. The law mandates that these individuals, known as fire-resistant material applicators, undergo a training program developed by the state fire administrator. The training program will cover minimum courses of study based on manufacturer specifications and will require attendance and registration. Upon completion of the training, applicators will receive a certification. Employers will be required to ensure that all applicators working with fire-resistant materials have completed the training and obtained certification. Failure to comply will result in a fine of up to $250 per violation. The law will take effect immediately.
