Assembly BillIntroduced
A 7984: Tolls the statute of limitations for endangering the welfare of a child until such child reaches the age of twenty-three.
What A 7984 does, verified January 11, 2026
The bill aims to amend the criminal procedure law to extend the statute of limitations for certain sex crimes committed against minors. It would delay the start of the time limit for prosecution until the child reaches the age of 23 or the offense is reported to a law enforcement agency or a child abuse registry. This change would allow for more time to investigate and prosecute sex crimes committed against minors, potentially leading to more convictions and justice for victims.
