A 805: Relates to requiring gender neutral bathrooms in state-owned buildings; provides that if no single-occupancy bathroom can be designated as gender neutral in a state-owned building, a multiple-occupancy bathroom shall be designated as gender neutral instead; requires state-owned and state-leased buildings to provide adequate notice regarding gender neutral bathrooms.
The proposed law aims to ensure gender-neutral bathroom options in state-owned buildings. The law would require that any bathroom that cannot be designated as single-occupancy be designated as a multiple-occupancy bathroom with at least one sink and two sanitary fixtures. If a single-occupancy bathroom cannot be designated, it would be considered a multiple-occupancy bathroom. Adequate notice must be provided so that all persons can reasonably find gender-neutral bathrooms in state-owned and state-leased buildings. The law would take effect 90 days after it becomes a law.
