These crossing guards must be placed on opposite corners of such streets. The bill takes effect immediately.

STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 81 2025-2026 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY (Prefiled) January 8, 2025 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. PHEFFER AMATO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring crossing guards at high schools The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 14-118 of the administrative code of the city of 2 New York is amended by adding two new subdivisions d and e to read as 3 follows: 4 d. The commissioner shall require at least one school crossing guard 5 to be on each and every corner of every city block that contains a 6 public or private high school with students enrolled in any grades 7 between nine through twelve during arrival and dismissal times as set 8 forth by the school. 9 e. Any street with four or more traffic lanes that borders a block 10 with a public or private school with students enrolled in any grades 11 between nine through twelve shall require at least one additional school 12 crossing guard to the crossing guard requirement set forth in subdivi- 13 sion d of this section and such crossing guards shall be placed on the 14 opposite corners of such street respectively. 15 § 2.
