A 8262: Authorizes counties to post local laws and notices via the internet where such county doesn't have a newspaper published within the county.
What A 8262 does, verified January 10, 2026
The proposed law aims to allow counties in New York to post official notices and local laws online instead of publishing them in a newspaper. This change would exempt counties without a newspaper from the requirement to publish official notices. Counties would be authorized to publish local laws and notices through an official county website or a state-run digital platform. The law would take effect immediately.
