New York · Assembly · 2025–2026 Legislative Session · last verified January 10, 2026

What A 830 does, verified January 10, 2026

The proposed law aims to prohibit insurers from charging different rates for disability insurance premiums based on the gender of the insured. This means that insurers will have to treat male and female policyholders equally and charge the same rates for disability insurance coverage. The law will take effect one year after it becomes a law and will apply to new policies and contracts issued, renewed, modified, or amended on or after that date.
