What A 851 does, verified January 8, 2026
The proposed law aims to provide a premium reduction for successful completion of a fraud prevention course. The law would require insurance companies to offer a discount for two years after completing the course, which is called the New York Auto Fraud Prevention Program. This program would reduce the premium charges for insured individuals who have successfully completed the course. The law would take effect on the first day of the following January and apply to all policies issued, renewed, modified, or amended after that date.
