A 8724: Prohibits mobile sports wagering operators from enabling or otherwise permitting authorized sports bettors to deposit or withdraw funds to or from their account through gift certificates, open loop gift certificates, or e-wallets.
The bill aims to amend the existing racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding law. Authorized sports bettors can now deposit and withdraw funds using approved payment methods such as credit cards and debit cards. However, there is a cap on credit card spending per year, with no exception for other payment methods or debit cards. Mobile sports wagering operators are prohibited from enabling or permitting authorized sports bettors to deposit or withdraw funds through gift certificates, open loop gift certificates, or e-wallets. The bill also introduces new definitions for "suspicious wagering activity" and "independent integrity monitor", and establishes the use of e-wallets as a prohibited means for mobile sports wagering. The amendments take effect immediately.
