What A 8842 does, verified September 28, 2025
The bill aims to amend the vehicle and traffic law to clarify and expand the definition of "bus operation-related traffic regulations." It specifically includes provisions from the City of New York's rules regarding no stopping zones, bicycle lanes, and bus lanes. These regulations are intended to prevent certain traffic infractions, such as double parking and stopping in bicycle lanes. The bill clarifies that these regulations apply to bus operations, but excludes certain exemptions, like cooperative housing developments with specific requirements. The amendments will take effect 90 days after the bill becomes a law, but the repealed sections will be removed.
