The bill aims to amend the General Business Law to improve notification procedures for data breaches in New York. The bill requires a covered entity to notify the Department of Financial Services and the State Attorney General of a data breach affecting New York residents. The notification must include the timing, content, and distribution of the notices, as well as the approximate number of affected persons. The entity must also provide a copy of the template used for the notices to the State Attorney General and the Department of Financial Services.
