A 9181: Directs the commissioner of education to develop and maintain a publicly accessible statewide attendance and absenteeism dashboard to be posted publicly on the state education department's website.
The proposed law aims to establish a statewide student attendance and absenteeism dashboard to provide a centralized and accessible platform for tracking student attendance rates. The dashboard will display statewide, district-level, and school-level attendance and chronic absenteeism rates, disaggregated by various student subgroups, including race and ethnicity. The data will be updated at least once a week and will include comparisons with prior school years. The law also ensures data quality and privacy by protecting student information and providing technical assistance to districts to ensure consistency. The dashboard will be publicly accessible on the department's website, making it clear and accessible to families, educators, policymakers, and the public.
