A 9271: Establishes the buy American, buy union grant program and the buy American, buy union grant fund for the purpose of providing grants to municipal subdivisions to reimburse such municipal subdivisions for the costs of procuring consumer or commercial vehicles which are union-made.
The bill establishes a "buy American, buy union grant program" to provide financial assistance to political subdivisions that purchase union-made vehicles. The program aims to promote the use of union-made vehicles and support the American economy. To be eligible, the vehicles must be purchased from a business entity located in the US, operating under a collective bargaining agreement with a labor organization. The program will provide grants up to 20% of the costs incurred by the political subdivision. The funds will be managed by the Department of Economic Development, which will review applications and provide notice of the grant determination. The program will require annual reports detailing its operation and progress. The bill also establishes a special fund, the "buy American, buy union grant fund," to manage the program's finances.
