What A 9394 does, verified January 8, 2026
This bill amends the penal law to expand the list of public employees who, when assaulted, are considered victims of assault in the second degree. The new list includes employees of the Office of Children and Family Services, as well as law enforcement officers, firefighters, and transit personnel. The bill aims to provide better protection and support for these employees, who often face significant risks in their daily work. The expansion of the definition of assault in the second degree is intended to ensure that these employees receive the same level of protection as other public employees.
