What J 133 does, verified January 15, 2025

This resolution aims to promote the health and welfare of New York residents by recognizing the importance of immunization. Vaccines have prevented the spread of life-threatening diseases and saved over two million lives annually. Immunization protects against diseases that are often fatal to young children and can also prevent illnesses such as flu, meningitis, and certain types of cancer. Despite this, up to 1.5 million children worldwide still die from preventable diseases due to a lack of access to vaccines. The resolution calls for the governor to proclaim April 24-30, 2025, as Immunization Week in New York to raise awareness about the importance of immunization and combat misinformation about vaccine safety.
