The resolution proposes to memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim January 18, 2025, as thesaurus day in the state of New York. This day aims to increase awareness of the importance of vocabulary and language. The resolution honors Peter Mark Roget, the author of the thesaurus, who published his book in 1852. The book has since become a valuable resource for expanding vocabulary, and its use has been shown to have positive health effects. The resolution encourages New Yorkers to use the thesaurus on this day to learn new words and improve their language skills.
