J 507: Memorializing Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim April 6, 2025, as Missing Persons Day in the State of New York
The proposed resolution aims to create public awareness about the devastating effects of unexplained disappearances of loved ones. It is intended to honor the memory of a university student who has been missing since 1998. The resolution seeks to recognize the need to further enhance efforts to locate missing persons in the state. Several thousand people are labeled as missing in the state, many of whom are 18 years of age or older. The resolution also aims to bring comfort to the family members of missing persons who suffer from continuous grieving and uncertainty. It reaffirms the ongoing efforts to address this issue and observes April 6 as a day of recognition for the missing persons epidemic in the state. A copy of the resolution will be transmitted to the governor of the state to proclaim April 6 as Missing Persons Day.
