K 1604: Recognizing the Paige Elizabeth Keely Foundation for its dedicated efforts in raising awareness about arteriovenous malformation

This legislative resolution formally recognizes the Paige Elizabeth Keely Foundation for its dedicated efforts in raising awareness about arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). The bill honors the memory of Paige Elizabeth Keely, a young girl who passed away from complications of a ruptured, undetected brain AVM, and acknowledges the foundation established by her family to support affected families and advance critical research. The text explains that AVMs are congenital conditions involving tangled blood vessels that disrupt blood flow and can lead to strokes or brain damage, often without clear causes or early symptoms. The resolution commends the foundation for partnering with leading medical institutions to develop non-invasive imaging and early detection methods, while promoting public education, screening efforts, and compassionate community support to prevent future tragedies.
