K 291: Memorializing Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim March 25-31, 2025, as Farmworker Awareness Week in the State of New York
The proposed resolution aims to recognize the importance of farmworkers in the food supply chain. Farmworkers provide essential labor to grow, harvest, process, and pack fresh food for stores every day. They are the root of the nation's supply chain and ensure the availability, quality, and safety of our food. The resolution honors the contributions of farmworkers, who are often unseen and underappreciated, despite their highly skilled and physically challenging labor. The resolution also acknowledges the growing need for farmworkers as the world population continues to grow. It recognizes the vital role of agriculture as a driving force in the economy and the importance of farmworkers from all backgrounds who feed us and our families every day. The resolution proposes to proclaim March 25-31, 2025, as Farmworker Awareness Week in the state of New York.
