K 301: Memorializing Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim March 2025, as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in the State of New York
The resolution memorializes Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim March 2025 as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in the state of New York. This is done to increase awareness of serious health issues that affect all New Yorkers. Colorectal cancer is recognized as one of the most highly preventable forms of cancer, with screening tests able to detect cancer early when treatment works best. If every individual aged 50 or older had regular screening tests, up to 60% of deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented. The resolution aims to promote awareness of this serious health condition and encourage activity at the local, state, and national levels to address the issue.
