K 551: Commemorating the 5th Anniversary of the Central New York Tunnels to Towers 5K Run & Walk
The bill commemorates the 5th anniversary of the Central New York Tunnels to Towers 5K Run & Walk event, held in Utica, New York. The event honors the memory of all lives lost since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, including first responders who bravely risked their lives to save others. The Tunnels to Towers Foundation was created to carry on the legacy of courage and heroism embodied by these first responders. The event, which began in New York City to honor a fallen hero, has now inspired 70 events throughout the state, including the Central New York event, where participants run in solidarity with first responders and military service members. The bill acknowledges the event's significance and expresses the legislative body's support for the ongoing support of first responders and military heroes.
