What K 555 does, verified September 28, 2025

The bill aims to memorialize a historic event in the state of New York. Charles Lindbergh made his non-stop transatlantic flight from New York to Paris on May 20-21, 1927, covering 3,510 miles in a single-engine monoplane. This achievement revolutionized aviation and earned Lindbergh worldwide fame. Five years later, Amelia Earhart emulated Lindbergh's flight, becoming the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. A monument was erected at the intersection of Source Mall Drive and Transverse Drive in East Garden City, New York, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Lindbergh's takeoff. The town of Hempstead and area residents are working to protect the monument and develop educational and visitor activities at the site. The bill recognizes the significance of this event and expresses support for the town's efforts to preserve the site.
