What K 628 does, verified September 28, 2025

The bill aims to recognize and honor the contributions of donor-breastfeeding mothers in the state who provide milk to other mothers and their babies in need. This recognition is to be made on May 19, a day originally designated as World Human Milk Donation Day in Brazil. The bill highlights the importance of breast milk in reducing the risk of infections, respiratory illnesses, and allergies in newborn babies. It also notes that human breast milk contains antibodies that help fight off viruses and bacteria, and that premature babies can benefit from the milk. The bill encourages the governor to proclaim May 19 as Human Milk Day in the state, in honor of the selfless donations made by breastfeeding mothers.
