This legislative body recognizes the importance of raising awareness about serious issues affecting New York State citizens. To this end, they memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim July 2025 as Plastic Free Month in the state of New York. The goal of this initiative is to educate the public about the importance of reusing, reducing, and recycling plastic items. This awareness aims to reduce the use of single-use plastic, which is defined as plastic shopping bags, cups, straws, packaging, and other products meant to be used once and discarded. The initiative encourages New Yorkers to participate by giving up single-use plastic items for a day, a week, or the whole month. The resolution commends the Plastic Free July initiative for enlightening New Yorkers about the importance of reusing and eliminating plastic items, and copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to Governor…
