K 716: Recognizing June 23-29, 2025, as Amateur Radio Week
This legislative body recognizes amateur radio week from June 23-29, 2025, to acknowledge the historic significance of amateur radio operators in New York State. The state has over 25,000 FCC-licensed operators who provide emergency radio communications during natural disasters and other emergencies. These operators demonstrate their value in public assistance by offering free services to communities in need. They regularly show readiness to respond in times of need and engage in public assistance during the American Radio Relay League's Field Day exercise. Recognizing amateur radio week will honor their contributions and raise awareness of their role in community service and emergency preparedness.
