K 762: Memorializing Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim September 15-21, 2025, as Diaper Need Awareness Week in the State of New York
The bill aims to raise awareness about diaper need, a condition where infants and toddlers lack a sufficient supply of clean diapers. This can have negative effects on their health and well-being. According to national surveys, one in two mothers experience diaper need at some point, and 48% of families delay changing diapers to extend their supply. Diapers can be expensive, with costs equivalent to six percent of a full-time minimum wage worker's salary, causing economic hardship for families. The bill encourages the governor to proclaim September 15-21, 2025, as Diaper Need Awareness Week in the state of New York. This awareness week aims to recognize the importance of diapers in providing economic stability for families and promote efforts to distribute diapers to low-income families.
