What S 1055 does, verified April 22, 2026

The proposed law aims to modify the disclosure of pending orders of adjournment in contemplation of dismissal on civil records of arrests and prosecutions. When searching criminal history records for civil purposes, only convictions and pending arrests with accompanying actions will be reported. A pending arrest with an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal will not be considered pending unless the order is revoked and the case is restored for further prosecution. The changes will take effect immediately.
