S 10725: Requires at least one automated external defibrillator to be available at electric utility worksites where two or more electrical utility workers are performing work on electrical transmission or distribution lines of six hundred one volts or more; requires electric utilities to maintain emergency response plans with regard to the use of automated external defibrillators.
This bill amends the Public Service Law to require electric utilities to provide automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at all covered worksites, defined as locations where two or more utility workers are performing work on electrical transmission or distribution lines of 601 volts or more. Utilities must create and maintain a written emergency-response plan that outlines procedures for recognizing cardiac arrest, retrieving and using AEDs, alerting emergency medical services, coordinating responses among workers and responders, and maintaining the equipment. The law also requires regular inspection, maintenance, and testing of the devices, with records kept in accordance with regulations. Additio…
