S 1114: Relates to including the Asian longhorned tick and lone star tick on the invasive species list, and include them in the comprehensive plan for invasive species management.
The state of New York is introducing a new law to address the invasive species of the Asian longhorned tick and the lone star tick. These ticks are to be added to the state's invasive species list and included in a comprehensive plan for their management. The law aims to prohibit and control the spread of these ticks at state-funded project sites and collaborate with the council to restore invaded ecosystems. The information on these ticks will be included on statewide databases and clearinghouses, which will incorporate existing data from various agencies and organizations. The law will take effect 90 days after it becomes a law, and the state will be allowed to make necessary changes to rules and regulations for its implementation.
