S 131: Requires the consideration of complete street design for certain transportation projects which receive federal or state funding; authorizes the department to compile and make publicly available guidance and reference material related to consideration of complete street design.
The bill aims to require the consideration of complete street design for transportation projects that receive federal or state funding. This means that transportation agencies must take into account the needs of all users, including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and public transportation users, when planning and designing projects. The bill also requires the state to compile and make available publicly design guidance and reference material to assist agencies in complying with the new requirement. The changes will take effect 108 days after the bill becomes a law, but transportation projects already approved before the bill's effective date will be exempt.
