What S 1392 does, verified January 9, 2026

The proposed legislation aims to provide reimbursement to municipalities for lost real property tax revenue resulting from the establishment of community residential facilities for the disabled. The state will reimburse municipalities for the loss of tax revenue, which occurs when these facilities are built on previously vacant or underutilized properties. The reimbursement is intended to offset the financial impact of these facilities on local tax bases and support the development of community-based care for individuals with disabilities.
