What S 1515 does, verified July 2, 2025

The bill aims to modify the General Municipal Law to exempt emergency medical services from the limit on real property tax levies by local governments. This change will allow local governments to levy taxes necessary for expenditures for emergency medical services without being limited by the existing real property tax levy limit. The exemptions will be applicable in years when the normal contribution rate of the New York State Teachers' Retirement System increases by more than two percentage points from the previous year. The bill takes effect immediately.
