STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 1602 2025-2026 Regular Sessions IN SENATE January 10, 2025 ___________ Introduced by Sen. LANZA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to granting certain court reporters peace officer status The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 21 of section 2.10 of the criminal procedure 2 law is amended by adding a new paragraph g to read as follows: 3 g. Court reporters in the first and second departments, provided, 4 however, that nothing in this paragraph shall be deemed to authorize 5 such employees to carry, possess, repair or dispose of a firearm unless 6 the appropriate license therefor has been issued pursuant to section 7 400.00 of the penal law. 8 § 2.
