What S 1632 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to exempt certain dogs from licensing fees. It defines two types of dogs: livestock guardian dogs, which protect livestock from predators, and herding dogs, which help with herding cattle, sheep, or other live stock. These dogs, including guide dogs, service dogs, therapy dogs, and working dogs, will no longer be required to pay licensing fees. The bill also requires that the license for these dogs be clearly marked with the type of dog. The changes will take effect immediately.
