What S 177 does, verified January 8, 2025

The bill aims to amend the General Municipal Law in New York to provide financial assistance from industrial development agencies. It repeals certain provisions and amends a specific section of the law to allow financial assistance for retail projects that would not be reasonably accessible to local residents due to a lack of retail facilities. This assistance can be provided if the predominant purpose of the project is to make goods or services available to residents, or if the project is located in a highly distressed area. The changes will take effect immediately.
