S 1822: Prohibits speech-based defenses to actions brought against an individual for the unlawful dissemination of publication of an intimate image.
What S 1822 does, verified May 23, 2026
The bill aims to prohibit the use of a "right to free speech" as a defense in cases where an individual is sued for unlawfully disseminating or publishing an intimate image. This means that sharing explicit images without consent will not be protected as a form of free speech. The bill applies to both criminal and civil actions, ensuring that individuals can seek justice and protection from non-consensual image sharing.
