What S 1933 does, verified May 18, 2026
This law aims to expand the existing "Joan's Law" by increasing the age limit for child victims of rape and sexual abuse from 14 to 18 years old. The law will deny parole to individuals who commit certain sex crimes against minors aged 18 or older, resulting in the victim's death. The new law will take effect on November 1, named after a victim of a sex crime, in memory of Paula, who was a victim of incest at the age of 11.
