What S 1958 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to provide access to footage captured by an interior school bus camera under certain circumstances. A parent or guardian can request to view the footage if they report an incident of physical harm, harassment, intimidation, or bullying that occurred against their child while they were transported to or from school or school-sponsored activities. The school board must establish policies to allow for the viewing of footage under the supervision of the director of schools, the school principal, or a school official. These policies must comply with applicable state regulations and federal privacy laws, and may establish a process or timeframe for requesting access to the footage. The changes take effect immediately.
