What S 2307 does, verified February 4, 2026

The proposed amendment to the constitution would increase the number of supreme court justices in a judicial district based on the population of that district. The number of justices cannot exceed one for every thirty thousand people or a fraction over twenty-two thousand five hundred. The legislature can increase or decrease the number of justices, but the minimum number is the number authorized on the effective date of the article. The proposed amendments would be referred to the first regular legislative session after the next general election and published for three months prior to the election.
