What S 2373 does, verified January 9, 2026

The bill aims to amend the real property tax law in New York. It provides an exemption for property of mandatory class nonprofit organizations if construction or improvements are in progress or are planned due to the absence of suitable buildings or physical improvements. This exemption applies to properties acquired within seven years of the exemption's effective date, or the date of acquisition if it's after the effective date. However, properties used for children's overnight camps or owned by not-for-profit conservation organizations are exempt from this provision. The changes take effect on the first day of the next year after the bill becomes a law.
