S 242: Directs the director of the division of minority and women's business development to provide for the minority and women-owned business certification of business entities owned by Indian nations or tribes.
The bill aims to amend the Executive Law to provide a new certification process for business entities owned by an Indian nation or tribe to participate in the Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise program. The director of the Division of Minority and Women's Business Development is required to establish a procedure to approve applications from these business entities. This new procedure would allow the office to approve business entities that are wholly owned by an Indian nation or tribe, rather than requiring them to complete the state certification process. The changes take effect immediately, except for amendments to Article 15-A of the Executive Law, which expire with the expiration of the article.
